Sasakian geometry and Einstein metrics

Résumé : I will give an introduction to Sasakian geometry, which is an odd-dimensional cousin of Kahler geometry, and which has been of interest lately due to its role in Kahler geometry (via tangent cones) and theoretical physics (via AdS/CFT). I will introduce the notion of K-stability, and discuss its role in the existence theory for Sasaki-Einstein metrics. In particular, I will discuss how K-stability can be used to produce infinitely many distinct Einstein metrics on the 5-sphere.
