Distributions that arise as derivatives of families of probabilities

Résumé : Given a one-parameter family of probability measures on a manifold, one can say that the family is (weakly) differentiable if the function obtained by integrating each test function with respect to the family is differentiable, and if that derivative is controlled by a distribution. Our theorem characterizes the distributions that arise in this way. We will discuss the proof briefly, and also some applications to mass transport and to the calculus of variations.
