Lagrangian cobordism and Chow groups

Mardi 10 avril 2018 14:15-15:15 - Nick Sheridan - Princeton University

Résumé : Mirror symmetry suggests a relationship between Chow groups (from algebraic geometry) and Lagrangian cobordism groups (from symplectic topology), following work of Biran-Cornea and Haug. I will give some background, then explain some new results about Lagrangian cobordism groups which are motivated by and provide evidence for this relationship. The results make crucial use of tropical geometry, which lies halfway between the algebraic and symplectic sides of mirror symmetry. This is joint work with Ivan Smith.
